Amazon FBA Germany Fees 2026: What You Actually Pay
Amazon FBA Germany fees in 2026: the €39 monthly plan, referral fees of 8–15%, per-unit fulfilment costs, €27.54 and €52.20 per m³ storage, and the December 2025 and January 2026 fee cuts.
Selling with Amazon FBA in Germany costs €39 per month excluding VAT for the Professional plan, plus a referral fee on every sale — between 8% and 15% in most categories — plus per-unit FBA fulfilment fees and monthly storage at €27.54 per cubic metre from January to September, rising to €52.20 per cubic metre in the October–December peak. Two fee changes landed either side of the new year and both went in the seller's favour: FBA parcel fees fell by an average of €0.32 on 15 December 2025, and referral fees were cut across several categories on 5 January 2026. Here is what you actually pay, line by line.
What Does Amazon Charge Per Month in Germany?
Two plans, and the break-even between them is simple arithmetic.
- Professional plan: €39 per month excluding VAT, regardless of how many units you sell. No per-item fee.
- Individual plan: €0.99 excluding VAT per item sold. No monthly fee.
The crossover is roughly 40 units a month. Below that, Individual is cheaper. Above it, Professional is — and the Professional plan is also what unlocks bulk listing tools, advertising eligibility, and buy-box eligibility, so most sellers running FBA are on it regardless of unit count.
Referral Fees: The Percentage Amazon Takes
The referral fee is charged on every sale and set by product category. Most categories fall between 8% and 15%, but the full published spread is wider than that band suggests — from 5% on certain clothing price points up to 45% on Amazon Device Accessories.
Two things sellers routinely get wrong here. First, the referral fee is calculated on the total sale price, not on your net after shipping. Second, category assignment is Amazon's, not yours — if your listing sits in a higher-fee category than you assumed, the margin model breaks silently. Check the assigned category on a live listing before you scale a product in.
The 5 January 2026 referral fee cut
Amazon reduced referral fees across multiple categories effective 5 January 2026, and extended its Low-Price FBA rate card to products priced up to €20 — previously a lower ceiling — with fees on those products falling by an average of €0.45 per unit. For low-ASP sellers this is the more significant of the two changes: €0.45 on a €15 item is roughly three points of margin.
FBA Fulfilment Fees
The per-unit fulfilment fee covers picking, packing, shipping, and customer service, and it is set by the size tier and weight of the packed unit rather than by category. Amazon publishes the tiers in a downloadable rate card — the fee scales in steps, so a unit that crosses a dimension threshold by a centimetre pays the next tier's rate for the whole unit.
On 15 December 2025, Amazon reduced FBA parcel fees by an average of €0.32 across its UK, German, French, Italian and Spanish stores. If your margin model predates that change, it is now conservative — worth re-running before you decide a product does not work.
The practical lever: packaging. Because the tier is set by packed dimensions, shaving a unit down into a lower tier is often worth more per unit than any supplier negotiation you can win on the same timescale.
How Much Does Amazon Storage Cost in Germany?
Monthly storage for standard-size, non-dangerous goods in most categories:
- €27.54 per cubic metre per month, January to September
- €52.20 per cubic metre per month, October to December
The peak rate is close to double, and it applies to whatever is in the warehouse during those months — not to what sells. Stock that arrives in September for a Q4 push and does not clear pays that rate for the rest of the year. Long-term storage surcharges apply on top for aged inventory, which is where slow movers turn from a low-yield line into an actively loss-making one.
Working Example: A €25 Product
Take a standard-size unit selling at €25 with a 15% referral fee, on the Professional plan:
- Sale price: €25.00
- Referral fee at 15%: −€3.75
- FBA fulfilment fee: varies by size tier — check the current rate card for your unit
- Storage: charged monthly against cubic volume, not per unit sold
- Monthly plan: €39 spread across the month's total units
The referral fee alone is the largest single deduction, and it is the one you cannot engineer away. What you can control is size tier, storage duration, and whether you are paying €39 a month to sell fifteen units.
VAT: The Line That Sinks German FBA Margins
Every fee above is quoted excluding VAT. On top of them sits the German VAT position itself: standard rate 19%, and holding stock in a German fulfilment centre creates a German VAT registration obligation regardless of where your business is established. Amazon's pan-European programmes move inventory across borders automatically, which can create registration obligations in further countries without any decision on your part.
This is not an edge case — it is the single most common reason a German FBA model that looked profitable on a spreadsheet is not. See our guide on tax on selling online in Germany before you enable cross-border inventory placement.
Is FBA Germany Worth It?
FBA earns its fees where Prime eligibility, delivery speed, and returns handling change conversion enough to outweigh a double-digit percentage plus per-unit costs — which usually means mid-priced, compact, fast-moving product. It works badly for bulky, low-ASP, or slow-moving stock, where fulfilment and storage eat the margin before the referral fee even lands.
Two structural points before you commit: the fee reductions of December 2025 and January 2026 both improved seller economics, particularly at the low end; and the German market is the largest in the EU by e-commerce volume, so the competitive density is correspondingly high.
Compare against the wider European picture in our Amazon Europe seller fees guide, the platform walkthrough in how to sell on Amazon Germany, and the domestic alternatives in best online marketplaces in Germany. Sellers who conclude the German fee load is too heavy for their category often test Kleinanzeigen and eBay first, where the fee structure is lighter and the fulfilment burden stays with them.
